Ramblings of a recluse

For those of you who know me, I don't need to spell it out for you how much I ramble. Are my ramblings that of a mentally ill patient??? I think not.....but how many mentally ill patients do you know who claim to be ill?
Well to start off, I am currently on vacation in Thailand. So much has changed here after the political unrest and the floods, and now the rampage of tourists from every part of the world.
I like Thailand, the cultural diversity is very apparent here. For the tourists, its the night Bazars and women.
Now why did I mention the women? I have been keenly observing their body language and one thing is for sure, they really know how to hook a man, and if a woman tourist approaches, they politely feign ignorance to the language. In my opinion an excellent strategy of doing away with competition, we should learn something from them.
I have also observed that Thai women are a very close bunch unlike us Pakistanis, they support one another, while we like to malign our best friends.
But, then again, we Pakistanis are a HAPPY bunch. The rich live in their small bubbles talking about latest International Designers and their foreign travels, while the middle class tries to copy them, frequenting the Sunday Market in search for International Designer clothes at an affordable price...............but NEWSFLASH girls, you do not have to be in the rat race of who has what, remember, style is what you make of it.
i have been very verbal about my stand on the whole topic, and it all boils down to poise and how you carry yourself, not about the opening of a new outlet and everyone rushing to buy the overpriced, substandard goods, the brain is located at the top of the head for a reason..........USE it!
Many of you must be wondering why I took long to update my blog, well, I wanted to write on things I feel strongly about, not some random topic.
Coming back to the matter at hand, in Thailand I was proudly telling everyone I was from Pakistan, but they thought it was a joke, they took names of the more exotic, interesting countries, which I would have been flattered, instead I was confused, according to them I don't look like a Pakistani. For them Pakistan is all about covered heads and the rest, one person jokingly said, that I come from a country of bomb blasts.
What an image we have for the rest of the world, while Thai people rejoice in their language, we keep ours like a skeleton in the closet,, someone asks us about Urdu and out comes a mixture of British and American accent, that would assail the ears, and they say Urdu is not very fluent. Question? Which foreign University teaches such BAD diction?
But we are a happy bunch, just go to any parties in Pakistan, these foreigners won't be able to tell the difference.
The holier than thou lot will lecture you about PARDA and the socialites will try to pass you off as their good buddy to some random stranger.
The collapse of any society comes when there are two parallel systems running in opposite directions, but we are a happy bunch, it doesn't matter how many people live below the poverty line, or how many people were murdered, raped or were a victim of target killing............or worse still how many died in blasts or maimed for life, for us life is good, because it didn't happen to us!
